Sant' Egidio Obtains the Commutation of Two Death Sentences in Congo

The Community of Sant1Egidio has asked for and obtained from the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, L. D. Kabila, the commutation of the death sentences of Sami Yassine e Khalil Ghodban, two Lebanese inmates. The Colosseum will be enlightened for 2 days. MORATORIUM 2000 – 2 MILLIONS SIGNATURES COLLECTED Rome, Feb. 9th - The Community of Sant1Egidio has announced that the campaign asking for a world-wide moratorium of death penalty by the year 2000 has reached the number of 2 millions adhesions. The aim within this year is to collect 10 millions signatures.
